NCIS: New Orleans 2×17 (CBS) Directed by Tessa Blake

March 1, 2016

The team must protect a local DJ from a threatening perpetrator as they investigate the murder of a Navy captain who was attacked while on-air with his radio show.

“Radio Silence” is the second episode in a row of NCIS: New Orleans by director Tessa Blake, after “Second Chances” aired on February 23.
These episodes are the TV debut of the AFI Directing Workshop & Disney ABC Creative Talent participant, who started her career as a documentary filmmaker and has recently finished the short film Upended starring David Call (The Magicians), Amy Landecker & Ian Harvie (Transparent).

In an interesting turn of events, as she made her TV entrance on February 23, her AFI fellow Hanelle Culpepper was fighting “King Shark” on The Flash.

Born in Bavaria, Germany, writer Greta Heinemann crossed the atlantic in 2009 to establish herself as a writer.
In 2013, she won 1st place in the 2013 UCLA Extension Television Writing Competition TV Specs for her Sons of Anarchy episode & 2nd place in the TV Pilots category for her original script Valleywood, prompting her to attend the CBS Writers Mentoring Program and getting staffed on NCIS: New Orleans in May 2015.
“Radio Silence” is her second credited episode, after the 2×07 “Broken Hearted” co-written by Zach Strauss and directed by Elodie Keene.

If Heinemann is at the beginning of her TV career, this is not the case of her co-writer Laurie Arent.
The series co-executive producer, who can be seen on John Carpenter’s The Fog, got her start as a staff writer on the John Stamos caper Thieves in 2001. A story editor on Graham Yost’s Boomtown, she wrote two episodes of the series in 2003, quickly followed by assignments on Cold Case, Life & Hawthorne. After creating the CW pilot Cooper and Stone in 2011 & working on The Client List, she joined the writing staff of NCIS: New Orleans early on, penning 6 episodes so far, including the 3rd episode of the first season “Breaking Brig”.
